Community Update – December 2019

Published: 14 January, 2020

We’d like to thank all those who have supported our charity drives this Christmas.

Our charity efforts have seen the school supporting Save The Children, Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Gatehouse Foodbank and The Bury Drop In Centre. We are proud to be supporting local and national charities and we congratulate our students for their contributions towards these causes.

Years 7, 8 and 9 have been spread some seasonal cheer by collecting luxury items for the Gatehouse Foodbank. Gatehouse added them to their hampers . Items have included crackers, hot chocolate and mince pies.

Years 10 and 11 met the Chairman of Bury Drop In, David Bonnett, who spoke to students about the charity’s work. Bury Drop In aims to provide a safe place for the homeless and those with housing needs in Bury St Edmunds.

Our students have been gifting new hats, scarves, thick socks and hand warmers. A new pair of socks can seem like a small thing, but they are essential for people sleeping rough on the streets. This gift can have a big impact, and really help someone in need during the winter months.

Thank you to all those who took part supporting these two fantastic, and much needed, local charities this Christmas.
