A secondary school’s commitment to employment advice has led to a successful careers fair taking place.
All year groups at Sybil Andrews Academy were given the opportunity to talk to local employers and learn more about the world of work.
Alexandra Dias, careers adviser at the school, said she was delighted with how the students interacted with employers across a range of sectors as well as the support of the school’s careers ambassadors.
She added: “The careers fair has been an integral part of how we prepare students to become work-ready and to learn more about local and national employment opportunities.
“Alongside this, we offer students a work experience week to develop employability skills and enable them a glimpse into their future.
“The careers fair was a great success and we would like to thank all the employers who attended and supported the event, along with our guest of honour Diane Hind, the mayor of Bury St Edmunds.”
The school’s main hall was taken over for the day with a range of information stands hosted by local employers.
Employers included TREATT, NHS Trust, National Trust, Suffolk Police, Barnes Construction, British Sugar, Havebury Housing Partnership and other businesses and education and independent training providers.
