The headteacher of Sybil Andrews Academy said he was delighted with this year’s GCSE cohort after the publication of results.
Notable student achievements included Alfie Turner who remarkably did not miss a single day of school during his five years at the school and went on to achieve eleven Grade 9s across all the subjects he studied.
Joseph Penhaligan achieved ten Grade 9s and one Grade 8 and Dasha Ivanova achieved seven Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Level 2 Distinction Star in Health and Social Care.
While sisters, Sofie and Chloe Thomson, together were awarded an impressive fourteen Grade 9s and five Grade 8s, alongside many other excellent results.
Headteacher Henry Stevenson said: “I am immensely proud of our pupils and the determination they have shown throughout their studies.
“These results reflect not only their hard work and resilience, but also the dedication and expertise of our staff, the unwavering support of families and the strength of our wider school community.
“While we rightly celebrate these individual and collective achievements, we remain ambitious for every student.
“These results reinforce our commitment to providing an excellent education for all and give us great confidence as we continue to build on our successes in the years ahead.”
More than 60% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics, while 72.2% achieved a Grade 4 or above in both subjects.
Mr Stevenson added: “We know these important achievements will open doors to further education, training and employment opportunities, providing a strong foundation for future success.”
