Drama
Welcome to Drama
Drama is a creative and engaging subject that encourages students to develop confidence, communication skills and teamwork through performance. Students explore a range of dramatic techniques, styles and genres, while developing their ability to create, perform and evaluate dramatic work. Drama provides opportunities for students to express themselves, build resilience and develop valuable skills that can be applied across many areas of learning and life.
At Key Stage 3, students follow an exciting curriculum that introduces them to a variety of performance styles, theatre practitioners and dramatic conventions. Through practical workshops, scripted performances and devised work, students learn how to collaborate effectively, develop characters and communicate ideas to an audience. More information about the curriculum can be found in our Drama Long-Term Plan.
We are pleased to have recently launched a Drama Club, providing students with additional opportunities to develop their performance skills, participate in productions and build their confidence outside of lessons.
As part of our continued development of the performing arts, we are also working towards introducing GCSE Drama in 2027. This will provide students with the opportunity to further develop their creativity, performance and analytical skills through the study of theatre and live performance.
Drama is a subject that inspires imagination, creativity and self-expression, helping students to become confident communicators and successful collaborators while fostering a lifelong appreciation of the performing arts.
