Welcome to Science

Science helps students to understand the world around them by exploring the fundamental principles of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Through investigation, experimentation and critical thinking, students develop curiosity about how things work and gain the knowledge and skills needed to make sense of scientific developments in everyday life.

Our curriculum is designed to build students’ scientific knowledge over time, enabling them to make connections between different areas of science and apply their understanding to new and unfamiliar situations. Students are encouraged to ask questions, analyse evidence and develop explanations using scientific thinking.

Practical work forms an important part of the Science curriculum, allowing students to develop investigative skills, work safely in laboratory environments and experience science in action. Through these opportunities, students learn how scientific knowledge is developed and refined through observation, testing and evaluation.

At Key Stage 4, students continue to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics, developing a deeper understanding of key scientific concepts while preparing for further education and future careers. Science supports progression into a wide range of fields, including medicine, engineering, technology, environmental science, research and many other professions.

Our aim is to inspire students to be inquisitive, knowledgeable and confident learners who can use scientific understanding to engage with the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.
