Key Stage 4 Options
Aims of the Key Stage 4 Curriculum
The Sybil Andrews Academy Key Stage 4 curriculum aims to develop successful learners who enjoy learning; confident individuals who have high aspirations; problem solvers who are able to solve complex problems, and leaders who make a positive contribution to our school, Trust and wider community.
The curriculum plan reflects local and national priorities. At the heart of our curriculum design are the principles of academic achievement, progression, balance and choice. We know that when students see their study as a step towards achieving future goals this encourages motivation, determination and resilience. We still provide every student with a clear sense of purpose and direction as they embark on their KS4 programme of study.
The Options Process

| Year 9 Assembly – Options launch The options process will be explained to the students. | Mon 9th March |
| Option Booklet shared with parents and carers The options booklet provides detailed information about each of the courses that are on offer, including curriculum content and assessment information. It also details further information about the process and timeline for making choices. | Mon 9th March |
| Options Assemblies Subject leaders will present a series of assemblies to students providing detailed information about each course that is on offer. | Tue 10th March Wed 18th March |
| Options webpage opens We will launch a new page on our website with short videos providing information about all the courses on offer. | Mon 30th March |
| Edval Choice opens Edval Choice is an online portal where you will record your preferred option choices. You will be sent an email with a link to the portal, and a webcode that allows you to login. | Mon 30th March |
| Edval Choice closes Friday 17th April is the deadline for submitting your choices. | Fri 17th April |
| Timetabling During this time period we will be developing the timetable to ensure that as many students as possible get their first-choice options. | May – June |
| Options Confirmation You will receive an email confirming the options that have been assigned to your child. | Fri 10th July |
